Get ready…

Make sure your ready. The world can change in a minute and it will soon. If you want to survive as long as possible, it is vital you depend only on yourself. Don’t ever depend on your next meal being there the way things are now. Have a backup. Of course if you can afford it, freeze dried is a great way to not worry about spoiling and many foods last twenty five years or more, which don’t worry, Christ will be back much sooner. How is your water supply? Pretend the faucet doesn’t work. Now what? Have plenty of alternatives. Bottled water. Outdoor cistern. Collect rain water systems. Of course have a good water purifier. I like berky the best. Life straws are a good idea. Ponds, rivers, lakes may save you one day. Distilled water and seltzer water last a long time. Canned meats may sound crappy now but trust me, the day is coming you would give your left arm for canned chicken. There are dried and dehydrated options. Freeze dried canned meats. It is important to know that when you see a best by date it does mean that but canned anything can last a very long time. Usually on the bottom shelves you’ll find canned juices not to expensive. Canned pineapple or peaches or high in liquid content are best. Look for canned evaporated milk, condensed milk, coconut milk, etc. Rice is excellent idea in bulk and lasts a long time. By itself it is kinda blah so make sure to have something to add to it. Stewed tomatoes. Veggie, beef, chicken stock. Hot sauce. Use your imagination. Pretend you can’t go to a store and get eggs or milk. Have your dehydrated powdered milk, eggs, and whey in abundance. Will go good with that squirrel or fish you caught. Whey powder is a good idea. Great nutrition and easy to mix. Look into raising your own chickens or Quail. You’ll be glad you did. Keep it on the low low if you have to. Eggs will keep you alive. Have powdered eggs as a resource. And remember you might be saying yuk now, but you can join the staving folks that didn’t prepare and look back and wish to God you listened to me. How about cheese. Hard cheeses encased in wax or plastic last a very long time. Grab some food bars. Protein bars. Protein drinks. Ration bars. Military foods last a long time. Pemmican is very good idea. Canned fish. Canned hams got a lot of salt and will last you till Jesus comes back. Counting on your freezer or fridge is unwise unless you are set up with your own power source. When the grid goes down you’ll have a few days and the packed freezer is garbage. Learn how to smoke your own meats and fish. Water gets boring so have plenty of drink mixes. Coffee, tea bags, tang, ovaltine, gatorade, iced tea mix, etc.  Kool aid. Have plenty of sugar and flour. You’ll need to make your own breads which is easy without any yeast needed. Vast amount of info on a tube site. Bullion cubes like chicken and beef. I like to just add a cube to a cup and swirl a egg into it over heat. Ramen noodles are cheap. Cooking usually takes a oil or butter so have lot’s of lard, olive oil, shortening, cooking oils. They can be useful to as candles and heat. Yes there is canned butter. Coconut oil is good for you. Make sure you have somewhere stable in temperature if possible to store your goodies. Back in the day everyone had a root cellar. Buy a shovel. Ghee  is a good idea. How about bread and pancake mixes. Bisquick. Whole wheat flour is best. Buy a cheap grain mill.  Shredded wheat cereal is good. If you can do it, plant potatoes. If not make sure you have potato flour and flakes. Sure not as tasty but add some gravy. Oh yeah, Gravy mixes. Cheap ones are better than nothing. Cornmeal, cornstarch, grits will fill a hungry belly. Popcorn. Masa harina. Corn is awesome. Nowadays it is genetically modified big time so look for non-gmo actually in everything. How about oats and oatmeal. Look for buckets of rolled oats. Making your own turkey and stuffing is awesome but those days will end. Stock up on bread crumbs and stuffing mixes. There is bread in a can. Grab some canned soups. Crackers last a long time if not opened. Noodles. Lots of noodles. Look for noodle mixes like mac and cheese. Potato flakes or au gratin potatoes or scalloped potatoes are a good choice. Hit the dollar stores and look for deals. I might repeat things but get over it. Dried things like rice. Beans. Did I say peanut butter? Lasts forever and always yummy. Pastas last a long time and you can buy a lot of different variety’s. Spaghetti sure cooked all day with fresh sausage and tomatoes rocks, but that won’t be possible, Look for canned beefaroni and the likes. Canned tomato sauces over noodles is better than nothing.  Egg noodles, whatever, look for deals and on sale. A closet full of ramen noodles could be worth more than gold one day. Raisins. Dried fruits or fruit strips. Your looking for things that can be stored a long time. Till Jesus returns. How about canning things yourself. People have done this for years because it works. I have eaten stuff  decades old. Make jams and jellies. Pickles. Sauerkraut. Apple butters. Fruit cocktail in cans. Canned pumpkin. When picking out canned veggies look for higher calories. Canned green beans are good but go for sweet potatoes and yams. When you watch old westerns what are they eating? Canned beans. Buy the hell out every variety you can. Canned olives. Nuts, seeds. olive oils, vegetable oils, etc. Maybe I said already? Honey, lot’s of honey. It lasts forever. Iodized salt, spices. Canning and pickling salts and spices. If you haven’t a;ready, switch over to pink Himalayan salt. Very good. Epsom salt has many health benefits. Cane sugar, brown sugar, molasses. Don’t forget the condiments. Hot sauces, ketchup, mustard, etc. Pickle relish. Mayo. Tobasco sauce, Soy sauce. Worcestershire sauce. Gotta have chocolate!! Syrups and powders. Dark are best and stay away from fakes with hydrogenated oils. Chocolate chips.  I’m just giving you the basics but even this small list will keep you alive. If your not taking already buy and store vitamins and minerals. Vinegar’s. Especially apple cider vinegar with mother. Liquors and wine. Baking powder, Baking soda, Dry yeasts won’t last as long but still might be good idea. Storage contains are a good idea if you can find cheap for some things. The most important thing now is to have a stash just in case. Just in case 🙂
